Workforce Skills Qualification (WSQ) Systems is spearheaded by the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA). It is a robust and integrated continuing education and training system. It offers a wide range of certifications and qualifications from certificate to a graduate diploma.
WSQ caters to adults in our workforce who do not have any prior paper qualifications. What most of our present workforce have are the skills, knowledge and experience in carrying out their daily jobs. WSQ offers an opportunity for this group to get their skills certified and at the same time opportunities to gain qualifications that will keep them employed and even promoted.
The Government is encouraging employers to get their workers retrain during the low-key periods. The subsidies of up to 90% are made available to companies for retraining purposes of their staff. On top of that companies will also be further rewarded with the Training Allowance / Absentee Payroll for sending staff for training. |
